Our Story
AEYN started as the brainchild of two friends who met in college abroad. After writing about the obstacles they’d faced as Asian environmentalists, they decided to create a space that would give Asian youth a chance to connect, collaborate and learn from each other. And thus the Asian Environmental Youth Network was born.
We’re a new group - we officially launched in July of 2020 - but we’re here to stay. We’ve created an online space open to all Asian youth passionate about sustainability. As of now we have close to 500 people from over 30 countries who are part of the group. As the climate crisis grows and the future seems increasingly grim, we want to highlight the promising solutions and inspiring heroes that give us hope. We view environmental issues as places of potential, and as avenues leading us to a better future.
As the world develops towards a sustainable future, we need Asians to step up and set the example.
That’s where we come in.
We’re solving these problem by creating the necessary platforms to bring Asian youth together in this fight. We’ve created this network to accelerate climate action in Asia by providing time, money, people, and other resources to Asian organizations creating sustainable change. Furthermore, by publicizing ongoing Asian-led initiatives and featuring Asian environmentalists, we hope to increase the currently-lacking global coverage on Asian environmentalism.
