Youth 4 Climate Action Korea needs your help in pressuring Samsung to pull out of the Vietnam Vung Ang coal power plant construction.
There are two actions you can take:
1. Please sign and share the letter to Samsung: bit.ly/badcallsamsung
2. Please send us a photo of you holding a sign saying
‘No more new coal
Say no to Vung Ang 2
#BadCallSamsung #NoCoalSamsung’

Context (from Youth4ClimateAction’s website):
Samsung Securities Co. recently decided to withdraw its investment in the Adani coal project after a boycott led by School Strike 4 Climate Australia. In 2018, Samsung Electronics announced its plan to expand the use of renewable energy, including a 100% transition to renewable energy in its U.S., Europe, and China operations by 2020. Samsung C&T's push for the construction of the Vietnam Bungang Coal Power Plant is not in line with Samsung's management goals, and it is abandoning its responsibility as a multinational company with enormous influence.
Moreover, Vung Ang 2 is a project that has already been delayed for more than 12 years due to local opposition. Coal is rapidly losing competitiveness in the global market; Vung Ang 2 is also predicted to generate a huge deficit, and foreign investors have been rushing to withdraw from the project. Samsung C&T’s participation in the construction of Vung Ang 2 will inevitably lead to a massive global action against Samsung with us young people at the forefront, which will severely damage Samsung’s brand value.
We urge Samsung C&T to make the right decision by withdrawing from the Vung Ang 2 project.
